TO A NEW YEAR... 2013 STYLE

I seriously can't believe its already the end of January! Wasn't New Years just yesterday?  As the days pass by and yearly resolutions fade away, we come into the midst of embracing a new year and creating new goals.  I never believed in New Years "resolutions" but I do believe in creating new goals for a new year.

For 2013 I wish to do many things, find the better me, create a lot of art, do adventurous things and most of all, inspire many people.  In light of fashion, I really want to embrace my personal style and discover what really works with my body.  I also want to finally figure out what my real style is.  Here are some of my style goals for 2013:

1. Quality v. Quantity.  I'm a sucker for "cheap, cheap, cheap" things so usually I buy a lot of pieces that aren't the best quality.  Now, I think I'm getting a deal when I purchase cheap, (I mean I'll buy 4 shirts for  $50.00!)  What I don't realize is that when I buy cheap, I'm actually wasting my money because the pieces I buy tend to only last a couple wears.  So, I promised myself I'll only invest in pieces that scream 'OMG' I have to buy it and I'll also invest in statement pieces that will stay in my closet for years to come.

2. Embrace prints/patterns. 2012 introduced me to colored pants.  Name a color and I swear I already have it.  From bold reds, royals blues, yellows, pinks, turquoise, green and coral, I 've already tried them and worn them.  For 2013 I really want to wear more prints/patterns!  I want to get out of my comfort zone and dive into snake print, python print, dalmatian print, even floral print to add extra character into my wardrobe.

3. Be BOLD.  I tend to gravitate towards button downs and plain skinny bottoms, and my everyday staple pants are black pants.  For 2013 I really want to wear pieces I've never tried before.  Pieces such as short shorts, boyfriend jeans, pie hats, destroyed jeans, silk bottoms, leather skirts....

4. Stay away from "fast fashion."  Since I live on a tight budget I can't afford to buy things that fade quickly throughout the seasons.  I have definitely fallen into my fast fashion days from buy ballerina skirts, creepers, to purchasing too many faux furs, etc... But as I get older, I really want to create a wardrobe I can keep  forever. It's all about keep those basics in tact and implementing vintage items to keep your wardrobe stylish and chic.

I hope this inspires all of you to jump out of your comfort zone and put together pieces that really describe who you are.  Your style never fades, it determines who you are, what you represent and how you want to show people what you are capable of.
Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.

STYLE STALKER: GARANCE DORE

Happy December! How quick this year has passed....I do hope everyone ends 2012 beautifully, gracefully and positively.

Style Stalker.  In one of my previous posts, I raved about how much I admire Elin Kling.  Another favorite blogger/photographer I absolutely adore was recently featured on The Coveteur: Garance Dore.   I seriously feel like a stalker when I'm on The Coveteur, Sous Style, and The Selby: I love looking into people's homes, I mean it signifies their sense of homeliness, shows their true character and defines who they really are in their own space, their own home.  Well, going back to Garance Dore, I truly think words cannot describe her vision:  her street shots and net-a-porter videos are uniquely captivating.  I also very much adore her illustrations.  With a laid back whimsical style, she adds a lot of character to each of her fashion characters.  Her illustrations can definitely be described as being chic, Parisian, black & white with a dash of color.

Overall, you can spot her at any fashion show: she's always spotted wearing amazing coats carrying lots of cameras :)

I hope everyone enjoys their first week of December!

CLASSIC BLK & WHT

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I spent time with the Kim Clan and then a long weekend with my wonderful boyfriend, so I can never be more thankful for my surroundings.  As Christmas is coming closer, I'm beginning to get a little frantic of the Christmas shopping.  I've made my shopping list (and also my wishlist), asked for addresses to DIY some Christmas cards and I'm about to make plans for cozy get togethers.  Did any of you guys start Christmas planning yet? If so, definitely give me some pointers on how to survive the beginnings of Christmas :)

I came across Zara's December lookbook and I was taken away by the simplistic hues of black and white.  Nothing seems more fitting for this winter season.  I mean the coats, leather, simple silhouettes and the accented whites just look fabulous.

IN ROTATION: THE HEELS

HEELS.  I'm one of the girls that will never, ever trade in their heels for anything.  I mean I live in heels.  I wear heels to work, out to lunch, out on dates, out to dinner, when I go grocery shopping... I even run in heels around the office.

In rotation- I've been wearing up my Nine West heels as you can see from the picture above, but I've also been wearing in continuation my nudes and snake printed heels.

KELLY WEARSTLER - THE COVETEUR

Completely Obsessed.  For a long time now, I've been a true stalker of Kelly Wearstler.  I love looking through her collections as well as her interior designed spaces.  She is one of the very few who can wear any type of jeans and still look absolutely stunning.  She is truly an amazing artist always mixing eclectic pieces with modern sophistication.  I recently stumbled on The Coveteur and saw her amazing home, boutique and closet.  What a beautiful home, I got gasmic when I saw her furnishings!  If you haven't checked it out it, visit: http://www.thecoveteur.com/kelly_wearstler

Hope you guys have a great Thursday!!

YES I LOVE HEADWRAPS

The turban.  Ferocious, beautiful and at the same time very different, I am in love with these headwraps.  I don't understand how men can hate this type of style, but I absolutely adore it!  With my obsession of color and patterns, the turban incorporates my favorite characteristics into one!

ITS ALL IN THE HAIR!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Its seriously all about the products you use to have healthy, shiny, awesomeness hair.  I for one love to try new hair and skin products and I've recently changed out a lot of my products for more "natural" products.  Since I am getting older, I've realized that with age, its all about the ingredients that keep you youthful.  These are some of the pre-natural products that I've enjoyed and I hope you enjoy them as well.

Right now, I'm about to finish up on my Aveda Air Control hairspray- which I love because it doesn't have that nasty hairspray smell and its super light weight, so if you want some hold- spray a little, if you want maximum hold- spray a whole lot more.  It also has no flakiness so you can brush through it without having white stuff all over your hair!  I also really enjoyed Aveda's phomollient- it definitely keeps your roots volumed up!

About a month ago, I discovered Conair's rat comb thingy hairbrush that I do love- I'm not a big teaser but when I got to tease- this does the trick! As for my last favorite, I really enjoyed Chi's Keratin Mist.  It by far does the trick- it gives you thicker, smoother, more radiant hair.  My least favorite this time around was Chi's Shine Infusion- it just could have been better for the price, you know?

What are some hair products you guys use?  Any great recommendations???!!! Any vegan or natural products that are you tie for??? Please comment below!

FLORAL SCENTS FOR SPRING

I'm still one of those girls who haven't found their "signature" scent yet...but hopefully I'll be able to truly connect with a smell that I think personally describes me best.  What comes close I think is Prada's Infusion D' Iris, but I think its missing a couple of key notes that can give it my "umph!"

For now since its spring, I'm sticking to floral scents, 2 of which are my fav: Vera Wang Truly Pink and Estee Lauder Pleasures exotic.

Whats are some of your favorite scents?

ZARA MARCH LOOKBOOK

Since we are in the month of March, I thought it would be very appropriate to share Zara's lookbook for the month.  Now you can never go wrong with Zara and Zara always has the most fashionable prints!  Right now I have to say I am definitely obsessed with florals and anything minimalistic and geometric.  Here are a couple of my Zara favorites.  (Don't you just love those shorts??!!!) Hope you enjoy.
